Seventy exceptional guitars dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries, from museums and private collections throughout Europe, have been chosen for this significant exhibition that will take place in Alessandria (NW Italy) in autumn 2008.
An exhibition of absolute masterpieces, many of them shown in public for the first time, made by some of Europe's most important guitar makers, including Sellas, Grail, Dias, Voboam, Pratter, Tielke, Fabricatore, Filano, Guadagnini, Deleplanque, Saunier, Lambert, Martinez, Sanguinio, Benedid, Guerra, Pons, Lacôte, Laprévotte, Stauffer, Panormo, Coffé, Vinaccia, Torres, Arias, Garcia, Simplicio, Hernandez, Ramirez, Esteso, Barbero, Hauser, Bouchet.
Many of the guitars exhibited once belonged to celebrities of international fame, including Mauro Giuliani, Niccolò Paganini, Napoléon Coste, Augustin Barrios, Ramon Montoya, Ida Presti & Alexander Lagoya, John Williams, Queen Margaret of Savoy, and many others.
The exhibition will focus on the historic importance of these instruments, while some of them will be played in concerts to be held during the exhibition itself.
